New Sonic Screwdriver

Thoughts...?

I remember first seeing this in the leaked clip, I've had some time to get my thoughts on it.

I personally don't like it. The design looks very lazy, it's almost as if the prop maker (Rubber toe or whoever) was trynna make it special for the female doctor but then went "sod it, she can use this spare lump of metal!"

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks it looks rather similar to a certain other object which need not be named...

Yes I thought that it looks like a certain ladies object....I do think they are silly to go with a design like that, people will notice.

Unless of course... it's intentional. Someone in the props department throwing in another female symbol. They did it with the logo as well.

Yes but that is a bit much. Having it look like that...open for jokes. Hardly a good way to establish a female in the role.

People don't like it on Facebook, one said did Ann Summers design it...

There are rumours this is only in the first episode whilst she's trapped on Earth and she gets her official one when she gets the TARDIS back, but I don't mind it. Obviously it looks rude and will attract the inevitable jokes, but you could say that for any of the screwdrivers to be honest.

Like with Capaldi's sonic and how everyone joked the size of it was the Doctor compensating for "something". 

I doubt she will get a new one. Though that is a good point that this screwdriver could have been soldered and shaped by metal rubble, in fact the more I look at it the more that theory makes sense. Still, the symbolism I think is one of the reasons why she won't get a proper one. 

Say, considering there's this much 'resemblance' over the sonic screwdriver, I am dreading what we are going to find in the new TARDIS interior.
