New animations?

Post by The Eternal Dalek on Mon 16 Jul 2018 - 13:56

From the Mirror (as per usual, can someone pass on the definition of embargo to them please).

Supposedly The Macra Terror and The Wheel in Space are being animated, take it with a pinch of salt though, we know what they are like.

Also the Daily Star reported it. The Mirror reported Power of the Daleks before an announcement and were right. BBC have not said anything so it is possible. We shall see.

Please let this be true! Conveniently, the Macra Terror and the Wheel in Space also happen to be the two stories that I want recovered the most out of the entire 2nd doctor era.

The Macra are an underrated villain in my opinion. They are quite threatening in their debut story, but the only reason why they're considered bad is because of how they are portrayed in the only existing story to feature them - Gridlock.

As for Wheel, well, it's a classic Cyber-tale.

I am familiar with the story of the Macra Terror but don't know it that well, don't think I have even read the book. It was a good twist to have them in Grid Lock, (Tenth Doctor story in 2007) that was a nice touch.

Wheel I like a lot, the only Cyberman story never released as half of it is missing. Out of six episodes  1, 2, 4 and 5 are missing. Reading that article, looks like the BBC would animate just the missing episodes, like the did with Moonbase.
Talking of Moonbase, that story leads into The Macra Terror.

Funnily enough the Moonbase actually features the only surviving footage of the Macra in the classic series - the claw cliffhanger right at the end. The Macra themselves aren't in any surviving clips from the story itself, only telesnaps.

Plenty of Macra action.

Plenty of Macra action.

Well, Idk where I got that information from then.

The point still stands, the Macra in their original story are far more menacing and antagonistic than they are presented in Gridlock. Even the Doctor mentions this.

Looks like The Macra Terror and Wheel in Space are not being animated. What is listed on Amazon.com is the Britbox version of The Wheel In Space, which was a recon version shown on the streaming service.

Well, Wheel isn't being animated. He also confirmed in another tweet that something else is, whether that is The Macra Terror or something else entirely remains to be seen.
